Dakota Access pipeline work nearly finished in Iowa

Work on the Dakota Access pipeline in Iowa is nearly complete.

Dakota Access spokeswoman Vicki Granado said in a Monday email that all major construction activities on the underground crude oil pipeline, which spans 18 Iowa counties, were complete in the state.

Only ground restoration remains, she said.

'We will continue with restoration for as long as we can before the ground freezes. Remaining restoration will be done after the winter months,” she said.

Iowa Utilities Board reports from Nov. 27 show that nearly all construction on the line within the state is done and only portions of work such as restoration or hydro testing remain.

The project is placing 346 miles of pipeline in Iowa, crossing from northwest to southeast.
